Equal Employment Opportunity Compliance – General Knowledge

Regardless of their areas of specialization, there is a body of knowledge that all EEO analysts should be acquainted with. This information is related to specific regulations and reporting requirements, record keeping, and reporting timelines. Additionally, a well-rounded analyst should have a solid grasp of the terms and definitions most commonly used with respect to the field of equal employment opportunity. This certification test allows EEO professionals to document their mastery of this general information.
Adverse Impact
The Adverse Impact Certification Test is designed to assess a professional’s knowledge and expertise related to identifying adverse impact in assessment, selection, promotion, and termination. The test covers statistical techniques for identifying adverse impact and the circumstances under which various methods should be used. These techniques are used by employers during Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) audits and during litigation.
Compensation Analysis
The Compensation Analysis Certification Test is designed specifically to address the OFCCP’s approach to identifying systemic compensation discrimination among federal contractors and subcontractors. The focus is on the use and interpretation of the statistical tool known as multiple regression in order to determine whether observed differences in compensation are due to gender/racial factors or legitimate job-related factors.
Affirmative Action Plan Development
The Affirmative Action Plan Development Certification Test is designed to assess a professional’s knowledge and expertise related to the development and implementation of Affirmative Action Plans as required by the OFCCP. Additionally, the examinee will demonstrate the ability to complete necessary analyses and reports required by the OFCCP of federal contractors and subcontractors in order to comply with current law.
Test Validation and Hiring
The Test Validation Certification Test is designed to assess a professional’s knowledge and expertise related to developing and validating assessment instrumentation that address the requirements of the federal Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures as well as generally accepted professional standards. This skill is critical to employers in that valid selection instruments are the key to defense against charges of discrimination in hiring and promotional decisions.
Internet Applicant/Recordkeeping Regulations
Regulations regarding the collection and retention of documentation regarding applicants for jobs has changed due to the wide-spread use of the internet as a recruitment tool. The OFCCP has published revised guidelines that employers must be aware of in order to help ensure that they can defend themselves against accusations of adverse impact in the hiring process. This certification test is designed to measure and document a professional's knowledge of these regulations and the implications associated with the use of specific recruitment techniques.
